Parents Alert

Stomach Aches: Never let a child swim within a week of bout of diarrhea or other gastrointetinal disease.

Talcum Powder: Never use powder containing talc. Breathing talc can cause inhalation pneumonia in a child and may contain asbestos. If you want to use powder to dry your baby's rash, choose one that doesn't contain talc or cornstarch, which can exacerbate certain yeast infections. Never shake any powder directly onto your baby's bottom.Sprinkle it onto your hands first, and then rub it on your baby.

Foam mattresses: If you do opt for a foam mattress, choose a dense top of the line model because a too soft mattress is a suffocation risk.
